4 Things I’m Watching Right Now
I bawled my eyes out last night watching the last 3 episodes of Dying for Sex. I almost skipped the show entirely—the trailer and the pilot felt clunky, and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get into it. Wow, was I wrong.
Michelle Williams is always great, but I was especially moved by Jenny Slate, Rob Delaney, and Sissy Spacek’s performances. Is it a perfect show? No, but it contains some truly profound moments, and it approaches death in a way I’ve never seen in a film or series before.
2. It’s not a new release but L’avenir is on my watchlist for this weekend.
3. I think I’ve mentioned my love of YouTube on here before. I really appreciate how it gives everyday people a platform to share their lives with the world—for free! Lately, I’ve been following a channel called So, We Found This Ruin about a Norwegian couple who’ve been vacationing on the Amalfi Coast for years and decided to buy a completely derelict but amazingly well-situation 800 year old farmhouse ruin with the most stunning views. The wife is an architect and the channel follows their adventures as they try to give their ruin a new lease on life.
For some reason I can’t add a video below but you can simply click on the title above and watch their first video if you’re curious.
4. I told ChatGPT the kinds of shows I like to watch and then asked it to recommend similar but lesser-know ones. Among its suggestions was, The Repair Shop, which looks like a cross between The Great British Baking Show (which I love), Antiques Road Show and Chateau DIY. A pretty solid recommendation, thanks to the robots.
