An Update + My New Favourite Product
Taken last week in Northern California, where we said goodbye to the vacation home that my husband’s family has had since 1971.
Hi friends! I’m quickly popping on here to explain why I’ve been so quiet lately: I’m in California right now, preparing to move my husband to Canada. There’s a lot to do, and we’re feeling pretty overwhelmed by what’s still left on our list, but also excited to finally be starting this next chapter of our lives.
Anyway, that’s not really what I wanted to share. What I wanted to share is a little more petty but, maybe/hopefully, will be useful to some of you. And what I wanted to share is that, yesterday, I took a day off from the pool of unpleasant tasks we’re drowing in, and went down to Abbot-Kinney (one of the streets in Los Angeles where I sometimes check out shops when I’m here). I needed a new bronzer. For the past few years, I’ve been using Westman Atelier’s Beauty Butter Powder Bronzer, which I love but mine is getting low and I needed a new one. There’s a shop on Abbot-Kinney called Credo Beauty that specializes in clean beauty, and they carry this bronzer so I stopped in. While I was there, I started checking out blushes. I love the two I normally use (when I wear blush, which isn’t always) - they’re also by Westman Atelier (found here and here). I usually alternate between them, but lately I’ve just felt like I needed something new to jazz things up a little.
A sales associate offered to help and, when I wasn’t finding anything that felt right, she sheepishly asked: “Can I show you my favourite blush right now?” Um, yes please, madam. She brought it over and my first thought was: way too dark. But I tried it on anyway and, low and behold, now it’s my new favourite thing.
It’s called Blurring Pillow Blush by Soshe Beauty. According to the Soshe website, it’s “a blush that melts like a cream, blurs like a filter, and lasts like a powder—packed with skin-loving ingredients.” I don’t usually believe beauty brands, but in this case, it’s true. The blush does something slightly magical to my skin that I don’t understand but that I like very much.
That’s it. Not deep, only slightly gentle, but too good not to share.
